You are doing the right thing as I see you are like me. One of the first things that this program deserves is laity who want to seek to bring the gospel message by faith.

I am just beginning to start a 'fresh expressions of church' in Burnaby, BC, called "TRANSFORNATIONS". My home parish is St. Albans's Anglican Church (at Canada Way & 19th Avenue, Burnaby). If anyone in my area wants to connect with me, please do so. I'm looking for anyone who is taking their faith very seriously and wants to/needs to explore other opportunites be demonstrate being a true disciple/leader for spiritual change. I love God and feel a real need to show that divine light through me. And I am a universalist and non-denominational, ordinary "global village" citizen in my soul -- hoping to reach out to all people with spiritual longings who are not served or satisfied with churches and/or religions as they currently operate. This is a "light" matter for the darkness people sense. Please join me in any way you can. You are the leader I need...

HI ALL: I've studied, albeit the much earlier posted power point presentation, re: Bishop G.Cray, at the institute Wycliffe-dinner of March/08, recently.
I found it an very sound plan, many great observations, laid out for the present, and future, of the church. Simply marvellous.
    Signed + k 8/7th/08

Just an FYI with this conversation concerning the work of Sheffield Centre in the UK (a Church Army project).
The magazine "Encounters on the Edge" are available by contacting www.encountersontheedge.org.uk, with topics ranging from alternative worship communities, cafe church, cell, multiple congregation, new monastic, midweek....yup. Lots. George Lings leads the charge with this resource mag which often highlights living examples of fresh expressions. I believe they have approx. 38 issues out thus far (note: #36 is focused on "Leading Fresh Expressions: lessons from hindsight". Highly recommend touching base with this team.
3 cheers for the work of the Institute in flying the flag on this side of the pond!

One of my favourite expressions on the west coast is 'the First Church of the Ultimate High' (a ministry to needle users in Victoria BC). Interested to know more?

Much peace

We are taking our mission statement to be an "enduring beacon drawing all closer to Jesus" seriously by using Alpha, The Marriage Preparation Course, The Marriage Course, Young Group and small groups to try and bridge the gap to those outside and inside the church.

This is a very informative article and serves as a sign post to examples for new forms of mission in Canada as well as resources to support such efforts. I've checked the web-links and want to learn more myself. The summer is a good time to "think outside the box" before the wheel of ministry spins into autumn. I encourage the readers of Good Idea to follow this development closely as it unfolds here in Canada.

Great article. Very timely. Let's hope others catch the FX bug! Most FXs in the UK are led by laity fired up for getting good news and good life to people they love!

BTW all the links to articles and videos I could find on Fresh Expressions have been compiled at http://www.therez.on.ca/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=109&Itemid=108

Most of these were posted on YouTube by the Director of Training for Fresh Expressions UK in order to give you ideas!

A blog of my three week (7-27 June '08) Fresh Expressions Pilgrimage (paid for in part by Bishop Colin Johnson Diocesan of Toronto) is posted (for the sleep-deprived) at http://dukeviperman.blogspot.com/. The short post there on "How To Do An FX" and the one about Lindisfarne are intended to introduce the methodology.

Blessings all!
