In a recent blog posting, Fresh Expressions Director of Media, Norman Ivison, writes, “In Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (yes, films do take a while to arrive in Longridge) Fred Jones (Ewan McGregor), an expert in salmon, and Harriet Chetwode-Talbot (Emily Blunt) arrive in the Middle East to embark upon a hopeless project. One of their first sights is a group of Muslim men praying. A thought is triggered and Fred says: ‘I don’t know anyone who goes to church anymore. On Sundays we go to Tesco’.”
