Our Vision:
Every church an evangelizing community!
The Wycliffe College Institute of Evangelism is a service offered to the wider Church. It provides a wealth of resources – teachers and practitioners of evangelism, printed and audio/visual materials, conferences and seminars – to help grow evangelizing congregations.
The Institute’s Mission is to encourage and equip the Church for the work of evangelism, empowering it to engage in this ministry confidently, joyfully and expectantly.
Our Leadership Team
JEREMY MCCLUNG, Transitional Director
Jeremy’s role as Transitional Director focuses on strategic planning, celebrating the Institute’s three decades of service to the church, and discerning how it can most effectively continue its work in the future.
Jeremy brings to this role both a practical and an academic interest in evangelism. He spent most of his 25 years of ministry in new, outward-focused churches, including 14 years planting and pastoring Muskoka Community Church in Port Sydney, Ontario. His MA thesis explored evangelism and conversion, which led to him partnering with former director John Bowen to conduct empirical research on Canadians who became Christians as adults.
Jeremy has a BA in Bible and Religion/Educational Ministry from Huntington University in Indiana, a MA in Christian Studies (Practical Theology) from McMaster Divinity College, and has completed all requirements for his PhD from Wycliffe College (graduating in 2024).
He has been married to April for over 25 years, and together they have three children in their teens and twenties. He lives in Huntsville, Ontario, where he enjoys music and art, spending time outdoors, and tinkering with vintage audio equipment.
JUDITH PURDELL-LEWIS, Administrative Assistant
Judith joined the Institute of Evangelism as Administrative Assistant to the Director in 2008. Her primary role is to edit and post Good Idea, the Institute’s monthly e-newsletter, on both the Institute’s website and as the email resource sent by the Institute to over 1200 recipients.
Judith also oversees our database updates and helps with other varied and interesting duties, such as conferences sponsored by the Institute. She lives in Hamilton with her husband Geoffrey, and attends and serves in the Church of St. John the Evangelist.
RYAN SIM, Communications Strategist
Ryan joined the Institute of Evangelism team in 2008 as developer of the Institute’s first web site. Since that time he has provided maintenance of the website’s platform and contributed his skills and experience in the design and development of the Institute’s communications and online evangelism strategy, while serving as a pastor and church planter.
Ryan continues to enjoy linking his technical perspective with the Institute’s mission. Ryan lives in Brantford, Ontario and works as a consultant through his company Digital Message.
